What Makes High Strung Studios Unique?

Founded in 2010, High Strung is the original creator of guitar string jewelry in the United States. Our unique jewelry has been sold in 18 countries around the world and has been worn by celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Rachael Ray, John Stewart and members of the band Chicago. We have made jewelry for charity projects with strings from Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Fleetwood Mac as well as special fan club bracelets for Keith Urban.

Are the Guitar String Jewelry Pieces Durable?

Absolutely. The attention to detail that goes into creating each piece ensures that you receive a high-quality item that can last for years with proper care.

Can you make jewelry out of my strings?

What are guitar strings made out of?
  • Guitar strings are made of various materials. Most of the types we use in our jewelry are:
  • Steel: (Silver colored) Steel strings are commonly used for electric guitars. They can be either plain steel or wound with another material like nickel silver producing bright and crisp tones.
  • Bronze: (Bright gold colored) Acoustic guitars, particularly those used for folk and country music, often have bronze-wound strings. These strings are made by winding bronze alloy wire around a steel core, and they provide a bright, articulate tone. 

Phosphor Bronze: (Rose gold colored) Acoustic guitar strings made of phosphor bronze provide a warmer and richer tone compared to traditional bronze strings.

Do guitar strings rust?

Guitar strings will not rust as long as they are kept mostly dry. Follow our careguide and you will be enjoying your beautiful guitar string jewelry for a long time.

Will it catch hair on my arms?

Absolutely not. Our jewelry is hair-friendly. It will not catch or pull body hair.

How do I clean my jewelry?

For the most part, you will not need to clean it. However, for bronze strings and brass ball ends, the cleaner known as Brasso works wonders. You can also use Sunshine jewelry cloths or something similar to shine your pieces.

Guitar String Jewelry Care Instructions:


  • Avoid exposure to moisture: To prevent tarnishing, keep your jewelry dry and avoid wearing it while swimming, showering, or during activities that might expose it to excessive moisture.
  • Store properly: When you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in a dry place.
  • Minimize contact with chemicals: Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and other beauty products, as these can accelerate tarnishing and affect the appearance of your jewelry.
  • Clean gently: If your jewelry needs cleaning, use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the surface. 
  • Polishing: If needed, you can use a  jewelry polishing cloth to restore the shine of your jewelry. For gold colored strings and brass ball end beads, a cleaner called Brasso works wonderfully to restore the shine. Make sure to thoroughly dry the piece after cleaning.
  • Protect against tangling: If your jewelry features multiple chains or delicate designs, take care to prevent tangling and kinking. Proper storage can help prevent this.
  • Avoid excessive force: Be gentle when putting on or taking off your jewelry to prevent any undue stress on the components.

Shipping and Returns

How long does it take to receive my order?

We strive to process and ship orders within 3-5 business days. Please note many of our designs are hand-crafted to order and we appreciate your patience during our busier times. Shipping times will vary depending on your location and chosen shipping method. Please note, overseas shipments can take more than 3 weeks to arrive.

What shipping methods do you offer?
  • We offer USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and Express Mail. The processing time still applies in addition to your chosen shipping method. 
  • Shipping times: Inside the continental US, Ground Advantage is 3-5 days, Priority is 1-3 days and Express is 1-2 days.
Can I track my order?

Yes, you'll receive a tracking number via email once your order has been shipped. You can use this number to track the status of your package.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes, we offer international shipping to [list of countries]. Please note that shipping times may be longer for international orders.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you're not happy with your order, you can exchange it within 30 days of receiving it. We will accept returns on a case by case basis. Please refer to our Returns & Exchanges page for more details.
